While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in clothes and placed him in a manger because there was no guest room available for them.
Luke 2:6-7 (NIV)
If it had depended on Mary and Joseph, the birth of Christ would probably have been very different. I bet they would have chosen to have their first child in Nazareth among their relatives. I am sure their home would have been more comfortable for Mary to give birth, but God had other plans.
He had everything ready for the birth of His son in Bethlehem. God had even sent the wise men there to give them the gifts that saved not only Jesus' life but also their family's future. Sure, the birth of Jesus would have been easier if they had stayed in Nazareth, but they would have missed God's providence.
My friends, like me, you probably have been through a few seasons where you wanted to ask God, "What's going on? Why is this happening? or What are you doing with me?" I have been in places and circumstances I wish I had avoided, but without them, I wouldn't be who I am and would not be doing what I am doing now. Every life experience under my belt has either blessed me or taught me a lesson.
Everything God does for you, through you, and with you has a purpose. Some parts of your life may not make much sense now, but trust God's leading. He knows what He is doing and where He is taking you. Behind the scenes, He is moving things and people, so your life can become the masterpiece it is supposed to be.
Just as Mary and Joseph never expected their firstborn to be born in a manger (cave), God could be taking you to unexpected places. Follow God's guidance. Trust Him and wait. God's providence is extraordinary. Wait a little longer. Stay in your course. Miracles might be on their way to you. Please do not miss them.
